One insulation contractor for the whole building.

A.S.I. has insulated commercial, institutional and industrial buildings across Central California since 1986 under CSLB license 505321. We install every common commercial system, from batts and blown insulation in a tenant improvement to closed-cell spray foam on a metal warehouse to jacketed pipe insulation in a mechanical room, so one contractor can carry the insulation scope on a project instead of three.

Buildings we insulate

Offices and tenant improvements, retail centers, schools and community colleges, hospitals and clinics, warehouses and distribution centers, food processing and packing houses, wineries and breweries, churches and temples, multifamily buildings, and agricultural and metal buildings of every size. Each one has a different insulation problem. Offices and classrooms need sound control between rooms as much as thermal performance. Warehouses and metal buildings need condensation control. Food and cold facilities need a sealed, vapor-tight envelope. We specify the system for the building rather than the other way around. California's 2025 Energy Code applies to nonresidential permits filed from January 1, 2026, including envelope insulation, pipe and duct insulation, and refrigerated warehouse requirements. Our installations are built to pass inspection the first time.

Working with general contractors

Most of our commercial work comes through general contractors, and we work the way a good sub should: takeoffs from your plans, a clear bid with the scope spelled out, crews that show up when the schedule says, and clean-up before we leave the floor. We work in occupied buildings, phase around tenants and operations, and bid public work for school districts, cities and federal facilities. Our clients over the years have included the City of Bakersfield, Kern High School District, Kern Community College District and Edwards and Vandenberg Air Force Bases.

Renovating an older building? One contract for abatement and insulation

Renovations of buildings from 1980 or earlier routinely uncover asbestos in pipe insulation, ceiling texture, flooring and duct wrap. Most projects then need a second, separate contractor to remove it before insulation can go back in. A.S.I. holds both licenses. We remove the asbestos under our C-22 classification and Cal/OSHA registration, then install the new insulation under our C-2, on one schedule and one contract. That saves coordination, and it saves the days lost between two trades. Commercial insulation is priced from the plans or a site walk. Tell us what you are building and we will quote it.

Commercial insulation questions.

What general contractors and owners ask before they bid us.

What insulation is used in commercial buildings?

Batts and blown fiber in walls and ceilings, rigid board on roofs and foundations, spray foam on metal buildings and complex envelopes, acoustical batts between rooms, and mechanical insulation on pipe and duct. The right mix depends on the building.

What license does a commercial insulation contractor need in California?

The CSLB C-2 Insulation and Acoustical classification. A.S.I. holds C-2, plus C-22 and ASB for asbestos abatement, under license 505321.

Do you bid public works projects?

Yes. We have worked for school districts, cities and federal facilities, and we bid public work across Kern County and the Central Coast.

How much does commercial insulation cost?

It depends on the system, the R-value, the building and access. We price from plans or a site walk and break the bid down so you can compare it.

Can you insulate an occupied building?

Yes. We phase work around tenants and operations and keep work areas contained and clean.

Do you meet Title 24 requirements?

Yes. Our installations are specified and installed to California's current Energy Code for nonresidential buildings.

Do you install sound insulation for tenant improvements?

Yes. Acoustical batts in walls and ceilings are a regular part of our office, medical and classroom work.

Can you remove asbestos before insulating?

Yes. We are a licensed asbestos abatement contractor as well, so older-building renovations can be one contract.
